Zimbabweans Uncover The Controversy Surrounding Maxwell Chikumbutso's Inventions

Maxwell Chikumbutso, a Zimbabwean inventor, has recently stirred up controversy on social media with his so-called groundbreaking “inventions”, the Saith FEV and a hypersonic energy device. He presented his work and showcased his claims to President Emmerson Mnangagwa, at the State House in Harare, declaring that the Saith FEV is a revolutionary self-powering electric vehicle that requires no fuel, no recharging, and no external input. This bold claim, however, has been met with skepticism and mockery online.
Social media users on X quickly pointed out that the vehicle Chikumbutso presented was actually a Kaiyi model from Japan, raising questions about the legitimacy of his creation. Things intensified when netizens found out that he had allegedly modified a Chinese-manufactured car available on Alibaba and passed it off as his own invention. Zimbabwe has been struggling with electricity crisis that might exceed 15 hours so the public found it ironic that Chikumbutso could harness radio frequencies for energy production.
Maxwell Chikumbutso’s history added to the skepticism surrounding his inventions. In 2013, he claimed to generate power "from air," but his narrative has since evolved to focus on converting radio frequencies into usable energy. Despite the mockery and accusations of fraud, he maintains that his technology could power a range of vehicles, including cars and helicopters.
