After a long 15-year hiatus, Jamaican star Chris Martin has graced Kenya once again, leaving fans delighted and hungry for his entertainment. The ‘Weekend Love’ hitmaker performed live at the iconic Uhuru Gardens in Nairobi on February 8, 2025. The evening was a celebration of music, culture, and unity, showcasing the deep connection that Martin has forged with his Kenyan fans.
“I’m happy to be back again. I first came here 15 years ago, and Kenyans have consistently shown me nothing but love since then,” Chris expressed in a heartfelt statement. His talked about the unwavering support Kenyans have given him throughout his career. “I have a deep admiration for my Kenyan fans, and I’m glad that, after all these years, they’ve continued to stand by me and support my music.”
The concert was thrilling, and it featured an impressive lineup of Kenya’s top talent. Renowned artists such as Bensoul, Wyre, and boyband, Watendawili, warmed the crowd with electrifying performances, setting the stage for Martin’s highly awaited performance. Adding energy to the atmosphere were widely celebrated Kenyan DJs, including DJ Joe Mfalme and Kriss Darlin. The stars kept the audience dancing and engaged prior to the main act.
Chris Martin did not disappoint. For two straight hours, he enthralled the mass with his most beloved hits, creating a euphoric atmosphere that was grooved to. Nepotism was the theme of the evening, and it was met that night! In an exclusive interview before the concert, Martin shared his admiration for Kenyan music. He professed his love for the track ‘Extra Pressure’ by Bien.
“I cannot wait to hit the stage on Saturday. I’m calling on all my Kenyans, especially the beautiful Kenyan ladies, to come out in their hundreds, in their thousands, and enjoy the show. It shall be nothing but good vibes and great music,” he promised.
Importantly, the event marked a turning point for concerts in Kenya as it unfolded smoothly without the interruptions or chaos that have marred previous gatherings. This peaceful atmosphere was a welcome change displaying a harmonious team up between event organizers, fans and artists for their shared love for music.
