Ugandan celebrity boxer Shakib Cham Lutaaya has issued an open challenge to any Kenyan celebrity to step into the ring with him. Speaking on the 3 Truths No Lie podcast, Shakib revealed that he prefers to fight celebrities because "it makes more noise," attracting greater public attention and buzz. The challenge comes just days after his own dramatic defeat in Kampala, where he was knocked out in the second round by musician Rickman Manrick, an outcome that left his wife, Zari Hassan, visibly emotional.
The challenge has sparked a lively debate online, with fans suggesting potential contenders from Kenya's entertainment scene. Among the names floated by netizens were rappers Khaligraph Jones and Otile Brown, and Sauti Sol's Bien, though none of them has publicly responded. The silence from the biggest names in Kenyan music has not stopped other celebrities from weighing in, however.

On September 1, 2025, singer Willy Paul posted a video on Instagram politely declining the offer. In a move that showcased his light-hearted and respectful side, he said, "I am a huge fan of yours, brother, but I don’t advocate for that. Your wife is a very big fan of mine." The post, which was widely shared, made it clear that he would not be taking part in the contest.
In contrast, fellow artist Arrow Bwoy posted a reel on Instagram on the same day, declaring that he was ready to fight Shakib. "Yes! I am up for the challenge," he declared in the video, adding a light-hearted comment about the potential for a fun and electrifying atmosphere. His quick acceptance has set the stage for a potential celebrity boxing match that would surely draw immense attention across the region.
