Pastor T Mwangi has revealed his decision to forgo a personal salary from his church. This inspiring declaration underscores a significant reorientation of his personal financial philosophy, emphasizing a redirection of resources towards the church's pressing needs and a shift from a mindset of "ownership" to one of "access."
The illuminating details of this decision emerged during a recent appearance on the Financially Incorrect podcast with Barrack Bukusi. During the discussion, the spiritual leader provided a candid glimpse into his evolving approach to money, integrity, and his deeply personal mission to build a genuine and legitimate inheritance for his family.
“Personally, where I am, I'm not on salary. I've reached a place where I feel like the church needs more resources and I need my thinking about money shifted from ownership to access,” Pastor T asserted. This statement is a powerful testament to a leader prioritizing the collective well-being of his institution over personal gain. He articulated a clear personal evolution in his financial thinking, explaining, "I'm not so much on this thing has my name. I'm so much on what can I access and use it to now generate money that I can call it my own and now grow towards ownership." This philosophy suggests a strategic, ethical approach to wealth creation, leveraging available resources to generate legitimate income that he can then claim as his own, ensuring its purity.

The conversation with Barrack Bukusi also shed critical light on Pastor T Mwangi's unwavering commitment to financial integrity, particularly concerning the inheritance he intends to leave for his children. In a striking anecdote, he recounted an incident that put his principles to the ultimate test. He was approached with an enticing offer to engage in illicit financial activities disguised as a "church project."
The audacious proposal involved "washing money" – a euphemism for laundering illicit funds – by mixing them with legitimate church offerings. The proposition came with promises of substantial returns, accompanied by assurances of absolute security and impenetrable secrecy. “There's a time Someone called me and told me, ‘I see you have a church project we can wash money’ and the kind of monies this person was telling you are going to make this were good money and the person said everything covered security nobody will know we just bring mix it with the offering you give us our cut you get your cut,” he recalled, painting a vivid picture of the tempting, yet morally compromising, offer.
Despite the undeniable allure of significant, seemingly risk-free money, Pastor T unequivocally rejected the proposition. His refusal was rooted in a profound and unshakeable desire to ensure the purity and legitimacy of his legacy. He firmly articulated his rationale: "I want to hand over wealth and an inheritance to my children that is legit and genuine and something that I know will be a blessing to them."
