In a significantly developing story, Sarah Wairimu, the widow of slain Dutch businessman Tob Cohen, has been re-arrested at her Nairobi residence. This comes after the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) announced the discovery of new evidence linking her to Cohen's murder that occurred in 2019 at his Kitisuru home.
Wairimu who had been charged with the murder and conspiracy to murder in connection with Cohen's death was released in 2022 after the court found no evidence tying her to the crime. Her release however raised eyebrows sparking controversy about the fairness of Kenya's justice system as well as thoroughness of the initial investigation among netizen and Late Cohen’s Family.
This re-arrest marks a crucial turn in the long-running investigation into Cohen's death. His body was tragically found in a septic tank at his Kitisuru residence in 2019, sparking widespread shock and outrage among family, friends and residents of Kitisuru area.
The emergence of new evidence has now led to Wairimu's re-arrest, suggesting a renewed focus on the case and a determination to bring those responsible for Cohen's murder to justice. As everyone continues showing great interest in the case, the nature of the new evidence remains undisclosed, but it is expected to play a crucial role in the upcoming legal proceedings.
The re-arrest of Sarah Wairimu underscores the complexities of this high-profile case and the ongoing pursuit of justice for Tob Cohen. This development has reignited public interest in the case and raises several key questions as to the nature of the new evidence. Also, how the DPP plans to use the discovered evidence to strenthen the case against Wairumu. Will the discovered evidence therefore bring forth a successful prosecution and conviction.
