Kenyans in the Crosshairs with the Rising Tide of Deportations in the U.S Amidst President Donald Trump's Directive

January 30, 2025
Seems like Kenyans in the diaspora are making it a habit of snitching on each other for personal reasons, like earning quick cash or out of jealousy, not wanting their fellow Kenyans to prosper. From a source on YouTube and TikTok, it's believed that Kenyans are among the most jealous of each other in the diaspora. It’s known to many that numerous Africans tend to seek greener pastures abroad, including high-value places like Germany, the USA, and Australia.
Currently, in the US, snitching can earn you $750, which adds up if you target multiple people. With President Donald Trump now in power and his focus on deportation since his inauguration, many are seizing this opportunity to make quick cash. Recently, two Kenyan women and one man were snitched on by someone close to them, and they are facing serious consequences, with the news trending on platforms like YouTube and TikTok.
As of now, 1,282 Kenyans in the US are on the deportation list, part of Trump's promise to clear the country of illegal immigrants. A statement from the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) indicated that there are over 1.4 million non-citizens from various countries in the US. Since Trump’s return to power, ICE has ramped up efforts to detain and deport individuals accused of overstaying visas or committing crimes, resulting in nearly 1,000 arrests in just the first week.
With an estimated 11 million unauthorized immigrants in the US, the situation is appallin. Other African nations are also facing the music, with Tanzania, Uganda, Somalia, and others having their citizens targeted for deportation as well. It's a dreadful moment for many, bringing to light the struggles and challenges faced by Kenyans and other Africans abroad.
