As the holy month of Ramadan continues, a sense of reflection, compassion, and reconciliation envelops the Muslim community worldwide. Tanzania's celebrated musician Harmonize, whose real name is Rajab Abdul Kahali, has recently taken a meaningful step towards embodying the spirit of this sacred month by publicly seeking forgiveness from those he may have wronged in the past.
In a message shared on social media, Harmonize openly acknowledged his previous mistakes and expressed a strong desire to make amends, particularly with his former friend and mentor, Diamond Platnumz. Their friendship, once marked by camaraderie and mutual support, became strained after Harmonize departed from Diamond's prominent record label, Wasafi. This split triggered professional tensions and public disagreements that tarnished the image of their once-close bond.
In his poignant message, Harmonize reached out to Diamond, conveying his deep remorse for the conflicts they had. "I should not have traded words with my brother Naseeb," he admitted, referring to Diamond Platnumz by his real name. "I’m so sorry my brother, I apologise. I was late to know that there is no one who is perfect. What we did together was good, and more than the devil who came between us, and I don’t see its importance."
Harmonize did not stop there. He emphasized the importance of compassion during Ramadan, highlighting that the month is not just a time for individual reflection but also a period to foster community ties and give back. "I join fellow Muslims to ask God for forgiveness for the wrongs we have done, knowingly and unknowingly, as God is full of mercy," he expressed deeply.
Harmonize reaffirmed his commitment to a long-overdue project he undertook with Diamond Platnumz which is the construction of a mosque in their village. “We used to remind each other to invest in God, including giving offerings,” he recalled. The idea emerged in 2018 when he witnessed the dire need for a place of worship in their community. They had both contributed, with Diamond initially providing funds to kickstart the project. However, as tensions grew, the project stalled, until now.
"However, the devil came in and the project stalled until last week when God said enough is enough," Harmonize proclaimed. Taking matters into his own hands, he has resolved to funnel his earnings toward completing the mosque. His intentions are noble and he aims for the construction to be finalized by Eid al-Fitr, symbolizing a renewed beginning not only in his personal relationships but also in his commitment to the community. With the collective support of his village mates, they have decided to name the mosque Masjid Naseeb, further solidifying the bond he hopes to rebuild with Diamond.
His announcement has garnered an outpouring of support, praise, and admiration from fans and followers alike. The gesture of humility presented by Harmonize serves as a reminder of the power of reconciliation, a theme that resonates not only in his personal life but also within the broader narrative of human relationships. People have taken to social media to celebrate his willingness to reflect and acknowledge his past, appreciating his commitment to bettering himself and the community.
As we navigate through this Ramadan it is essential to carry forward the values depicted by Harmonize, like seeking forgiveness and forgiving unconditionally. His words remind us that, despite our human limitations and imperfections, we are all capable of growth and change. Ramadan Kareem to all.
