Popular content creator Flaqo Raz took to social media to call out Oppo Kenya and marketing agency Afluence for allegedly failing to compensate his team for promotional work completed five months ago. On February 5th, he voiced his frustrations via his post, and this has gained traction among fans and followers.
The controversy comes from a promotional campaign for the Oppo Reno 12 smartphone that took place during an event in August. Flaqo and his team were tasked with creating dynamic video and photo content to promote the device, but the tight turnaround demanded that they produce three months' worth of material in just two weeks. Despite the intense pressure to deliver quality work under stringent deadlines, the team has yet to receive payment for their efforts.
“There’s nothing worse than not rewarding a creator who has poured their heart and soul into your project,” Flaqo lamented. His post highlights the troubling reality that creators face in the marketing world, where their work often goes unrecognized or unrewarded. Flaqo's frustration is palpable as he reflects on the commitment his team made to ensure Oppo's promotions were effective and engaging.
Flaqo accused Oppo of attempting to distance themselves from the controversy by claiming they had settled their financial obligations with Afluence, thereby leaving the content creators out in the cold. “For there to have been no payment or remuneration five months down the line is absolutely unacceptable,” he stated, expressing deep disappointment in the brands involved and their failure to honor contractual agreements.
The online community is rallying behind Flaqo urging Oppo and Afluence to take action. Fans are demanding accountability, echoing Flaqo's sentiments that brands must uphold their end of influencer partnerships to maintain trust and integrity in the industry.
