In a move aimed at ensuring every passionate fan gets to be a part of the action, the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) has unveiled six official fan zones for the much-anticipated final CHAN 2024 Group A match between the Harambee Stars and Zambia. The match, scheduled for Sunday, August 17, 2025, has generated immense excitement, leading to a complete sell-out of tickets at Kasarani Stadium. This unprecedented demand, however, was met with a challenge after the Confederation of African Football (CAF) capped the stadium’s capacity at 60% following recent safety breaches.
To address the situation and prevent a potential crowd crush, FKF’s CEO Hussein Mohamed announced the creation of official viewing areas for ticketless fans. These dedicated fan zones will be located at strategic points across Nairobi, giving supporters a chance to gather, cheer, and experience the match's electric atmosphere collectively. The official fan zones are set to be at Uhuru Park, Lucky Summer, Dandora Stadium, Utalii (Stima Club), Jacaranda Grounds, and Kibera DC Grounds. This initiative is designed to be a safe and organized alternative for fans who could not secure a ticket to the main event. It ensures that the passion for the national team is not dampened by the limited seating capacity at the stadium.

The decision to limit Kasarani’s capacity was not taken lightly. According to FKF, the move was a direct consequence of CAF’s strict safety protocols and a means to avoid hefty fines that could be imposed for safety violations. Hussein Mohamed’s statement highlighted the gravity of the situation, urging fans to respect the regulations and prioritize their safety. He specifically called on those without tickets to either watch the match from the comfort of their homes or join fellow fans at the designated fan zones. The CEO also promised a significant improvement in security arrangements for the match day, both inside and outside the stadium, to ensure the safety and well-being of everyone involved.
