"It was supposed to be an easy thirty-minute commute from town to home if only that trailer would have stuck to its lane," he reflects, acknowledging the randomness of life. "Disability" is not a term he shies away from; instead, he wears it as a badge of honor. "It gives me a sense that I belong to a community of really strong people," he shares.  

Through his healing journey, Brian has emerged as a powerful voice for disability advocacy. He founded the Strong Spine Foundation, an organization dedicated to raising awareness about disability issues and empowering individuals with disabilities to embrace their identities and challenges.

The Strong Spine Foundation has launched numerous initiatives aimed at challenging societal stigmas and promoting inclusion. Brian's advocacy work extends beyond physical limitations, addressing the emotional and social barriers faced by people with disabilities. He candidly unpacks the societal stigma surrounding disabilities, emphasizing that there are dimensions to living with a disability that go beyond just the physical. "We are not always depressed, we are not always bitter and neither are we beggars," he asserts.

The Ruracio ceremony, a traditional Kikuyu engagement ceremony, holds deep cultural significance in Kenya.
