Boniface “Bonnie” Kamau has been officially unveiled as the newest SportPesa Mega Jackpot millionaire. In a ceremony held at the luxurious JW Marriot on Wednesday, Kamau was presented with a staggering sum of Sh424,660,618, which he won after correctly predicting the outcome of all 17 games in the matches played on March 3, 2025. This historic win marks the fourth time the Mega Jackpot has been won and the first since 2018, a period of over seven years that has built immense anticipation and speculation among football enthusiasts and betting fans.
Kamau's win places him in an exclusive club of millionaires, joining the likes of Samuel Abisai, who won Sh221,301,602 in April 2017; the trio of Daniel Rono, Geoffrey Keitany, and Florence Machogu, who bagged Sh111,176,374 a month later; and Gordon Ogada, who won Sh230,742,881 in February 2018. The last winner before him was Cosmas Korir, who scooped Sh208,733,619 in September 2018. Kamau's win, at a colossal Sh424 million, is the highest amount ever won in the Mega Jackpot's history, a fact that has cemented his place in Kenyan sports betting folklore.

The online betting company had announced Kamau as the winner in a statement on Monday, August 4, 2025, and an audio clip shared by the company provided a glimpse into the moment his life changed forever. In the clip, CEO Ronald Karauri called Kamau to deliver the news, and his response was a masterclass in humility and grace. “Sasa wewe ndio umeshinda mega jackpot tu bana (Man, you are the winner of the mega jackpot),” Karauri announced, specifying the exact amount. In another piece of good news, Karauri went ahead and informed the man that the government's tax on winnings had been removed, which meant that the entire colossal sum would be deposited directly into his bank account.
Despite the life-changing news, Kamau remained calm and humble, responding with a philosophical and grateful tone. “Unajua ningekuwa yaani nimeumbwa vitofauti sana. Na vitu zingine ni God hata huwezi jua yaani wacha tu tuseme ni God (You know I am built different. Some things can only be attributed to God),” Kamau said, a response that has endeared him to many Kenyans.
Following his win, as a true African son, Kamau’s first instinct was to visit his home in Nakuru, via a flight sponsored by SportPesa. During the unveiling ceremony on Wednesday, SportPesa PR Manager Willis Ojwang' reflected on the long wait for the mega jackpot winner, and in a move that sought to put an end to any doubts about the legitimacy of the jackpot, he assured that "we manufacture real millionaires."
