In a shocking announcement that has left fans and admirers across Africa in awe, Nigerian musician Innocent Idibia, known as 2Baba or Tuface, revealed that he and his wife, Annie Idibia, were separating after nearly 12 years of marriage. The couple tied the knot in 2012 in Lagos before holding a civil ceremony in Dubai in 2013, and they have two daughters together. In a candid Instagram post on January 26, 2025, 2Baba disclosed that they had been living apart for some time and were officially pursuing a divorce. The post was initially deleted, sparking speculation of a hack, but the artist later confirmed the news in a live session, stating, "No-one hacked my account, I said what I said, I come in peace."
The separation comes as no surprise to some because the couple faced numerous challenges over the years, including public squabbles and allegations of infidelity. Annie recently opened up about their complicated relationship on the reality show Young, Famous & African. She shared deeply personal experiences such as a miscarriage and the emotional toll of 2Baba's other romantic involvements. Annie has since reflected on their years together, marking 25 years of friendship and 13 years of marriage with heartfelt posts on social media that displays their shared memories, including joyous “Detty December” moments.
In a trending post on Facebook, the artist shared intimate reflections on his relationships with the mothers of his children. He praised Pero Adeniyi, the mother of his first son, for her accomplishments as a medical doctor. He also recognized Sandra, the mother of two of his children, as a successful dealer in luxurious diamond and gold jewelry. He also pointed out how established she was in wealth and status within their social circle. He spoke highly of Sumbo, the mother of two of his kids, noting her success as a distinguished lawyer with a proven track record in high-profile cases.
Despite these strong accolades for the mothers of his children, Tuface placed special emphasis on his partner Annie, revealing that they share a humble background. He gave thanks to Annie's unwavering support throughout his difficult times, recounting moments when they faced financial struggles and hardships together. Tuface recalled how Annie stood by him when he had little to offer, she helped him persevere during challenging periods even when his career faced controversies.
The star clarified that his choice of partner was never based on wealth or status; instead, he cherished the unconditional love and support Annie provided during their years of struggle. He articulated a deep appreciation for her belief in him, noting that her faith in his potential was instrumental in his journey from obscurity to fame. Fans have flooded the comments on this post, expressing mixed opinions: while some doubt Tubaba’s ability to articulate such thoughts, others berate him as a nuisance to his wife Annie and many are questioning who he might be leaving her for.
