The 2025 Super Bowl LVIII captured the hearts of millions with an astounding 126 million viewers tuning in. The anticipation rose at a staggering 137.7 million just before halftime as the Philadelphia Eagles clinched victory over the Kansas City Chiefs. According to Nielsen fast national figures and Tubi/NFL first-party analytics, this year’s event etched itself into the annals of sports history.
Kendrick Lamar’s, however, was a highlight. Clips of his powerful diss song "Not Like Us" flooded social media feeds, while his memorable line "Say, Drake" sent waves through the digital landscape. The surprise appearances by icons such as Samuel L. Jackson, SZA, and Serena Williams added star power which further brought in more viewers. Lamar made mention of mass incarceration, reparations, the American flag and a "revolution," all seemingly intended to reveal the brutal nature of this so-called American "dream."

Kendrick Lamar has since become the first solo rapper to headline the Super Bowl halftime show setting a new standard in an event known for its show-stopping performances.
The Super Bowl halftime show has long been a coveted stage for the biggest names in music. The performances of Rihanna (121 million viewers), The Weekend (94.7 million), Usher (123.4 million), Dr. Dre (103.4 million), and the dynamic duo of Jennifer Lopez and Shakira (104 million) are all indication to its unparalleled status. The halftime spectacle often steals the spotlight from the game itself thus elevates it to one of the most sought-after television moments in history.
