While some artists measure their success by accolades Afrobeats sensation, Davido, has made it clear that awards do not define his legacy. A stirring past video has resurfaced amidst the Grammy fervor, and Davido is heard remarking, “I don’t care about winning the Grammy; I just wanted to hear my song on the radio.” This candid declaration reveals Davido's passion over trophies and honors. The sentiment was further echoed by his father, who reassured him, “My dad also told me no matter what happened at the Grammys, I’m still a superstar and a legend.”
While the Grammy stage caught the eye of many, Davido and his wife Chioma have taken innovative measures to stay in the spotlight. A delightful video of Chioma feeding the superstar recently went viral and this charmed fans making them a trending topic. Davido has at least 69 career awards under his belt, including notable wins at the BET Awards, Channel O Music Video Awards and MTV Africa Music Awards. These are proof of his footprint on the African music scene with or without the Grammys.
Davido has quite a history with the Recording Academy in relation to winning the Grammys.
-His collaboration with South African producer Musa Keys, "Unavailable," was up for Best African Music Performance in the 2024 Grammys, having climbed to number three on the Billboard U.S. Afrobeats Songs chart in 2023.
-"Feel," got nominated for Best Global Music Performance in 2024.
-Additionally, the chart-topping track "Sensational," featuring Chris Brown and Lojay, secured a nod for Best African Music Performance in 2025.
-His album "Timeless" garnered a nomination for Best Global Music Album back in 2024.
Whether or not he takes home Grammy honors, it is clear that Davido's legacy as Africa’s biggest artist is unbreakable.
